Connecticut punk rockers Scooped Up! release their latest album The Runs. The 14-song collection clocks in at an efficient 28 minutes, give or a take a few seconds.
“It was a multiple year process of trying to write the best songs we ever have,” the band say. “We went through dozens of demos until we were left with the best 14 songs.”
Scooped Up! is a musical time capsule, capturing the mid 90’s, pop-punk sound. Think early blink-182, MXPX and the like. Most bands in this scene commit to the full pop-punk path or opt for an aggressive, edgy punk style. Scooped Up! rebrands an age of punk that was lost in time, but do it in a way that is both nostalgic and fresh.
“Each song was an attempt at catching lightning in a bottle,” the band continues. “Nothing was forced, and we only went off pure inspiration.”
The album is loaded with quick, catchy tunes. But “Shoelace,” The Runs’ first single, certainly stands out. “Bummer” is a scaled back, acoustic tune that appears to be 07a fan favorite on streaming platforms. But each track brings its own, unique element.
“We couldn’t be more happier with the finished product,” the band concludes.
