Popular alternative and indie band WATERMEDOWN comes out of retirement on September 22 to perform for a good cause. The Bury Your Memories show raises money for Greenpoint Cats and the Brooklyn Kitty Committee while rocking the Econo Lodge in Brooklyn.
“This is the first of hopefully many NY area shows, and with the return of WATERMEDOWN I felt it was necessary to have them on board, “says Jason Zoblin, the charity show’s creator.
The Maryland natives WATERMDOWN earned notoriety for its 2015 EP Somewhere Sleepless. The record earned more than a million streams, giving the band enough clout to tour the country. Their follow up album in 2017 didn’t disappoint, with popular tracks like “Locks and Blinds.” The band released a 2021 album titled i got me thinking, reflecting excellent progress and potential.
“They have been on such a beautiful trajectory and I’m so happy for where they are and what they are doing,” Zoblin continued. :”Also, the other acts are bands I think are killing it and so happy to have them play! Come support a great cause and have some fun.”
Greenpoint Cats is a nonprofit in Brooklyn focused on helping stray and feral cats find loving homes. Their work can be costly, as the Greenpoint Cats vaccinates, microchips and fixes its four-legged friends before finding them homes. Brooklyn Kitty Committee is a comparable nonprofit that takes in stray cats and nurses them back to health before finding them homes. Apart from WATERMEDOWN and the positive philanthropy, the bill features Career Day, Puppy Angst, Goalie Fight and a comedy performance from Kelly Taylor.
