Alkymist have released a video for the track “The Scent” from forthcoming record UnnDerr set for release November 15 via Indisciplinarian. “The Scent” follows up previous single “Digging A Grave.” The video for “The Scent” was created by filmmaker Mikisog H. Lynge which cleverly combines original footage with excerpts from Fritz Lang’s classic Metropolis.
Regarding the theme of the video lead vocalist Peter Bjørneg states:
“Somewhere in the crowd, buried in shame, there’s a soul that suffers. Sealed and closed up tight in despair and out of sight … because love can be a poison. One who has lost control over life, soul, and mind. Whose existence is threatened and has done everything to hold on to the poison because it becomes a drug. You lose all sense of danger; you lose all peace of mind, and your soul turns to dust. If you take in someone else’s poison—thinking you can relieve them by sharing it—you will instead destroy yourself.”
The seven tracks on UnnDerr are the band’s first recordings to see vocalist Peter Bjørneg, guitarist Stefan Krey, and bassist Kaspar Luke joined by new drummer Per Silkjær (Fossils, Brunsten, Double Space, Sons Of Cain). Alkymist returned to Ballade Studios to record and mix the album with producer Lasse Ballade (Orm, Solbrud, Konvent, Night Fever) as on previous albums, with Ballade also handling the mastering.
Alkymist have announced a release show for UnnDerr on November 29 in Copenhagen and another show in Aarhus on February 22, both with labelmates Offernat as special guests.
