Macabre Americana artist Amigo the Devil has announced his upcoming album, Yours Until The War Is Over, set to release February 23, 2024, via Liars Club Records and Regime Music Group. On top of that, he’s revealed the first taste of music off the new record: the soft-spoken and candid “Cannibal Within.”
The new track features that eerie calmness and unsettling tenderness that Amigo The Devil has mastered as part of his acoustic delivery. Musically, the song develops its layers through the use of experimental percussion that builds into an uplifting melody, while the singer remains his vulnerable self. With that, he descends to the depth of the human experience.
Of the new single, Amigo The Devil, or Danny Kiranos, states: “There’s a tiny little cannibal inside of us all, and it feeds on our insecurities. The more it feeds on doubt, jealousy, and self devaluation, the bigger it grows until it becomes bigger than we ourselves are. And then we’re left with nothing. We lose the war.”
“Cannibal Within” was self-produced and recorded in a backwoods bar-turned-studio, and marks the preamble to Amigo the Devil’s forthcoming album, Yours Until The War Is Over.
