In case you haven’t heard, Amorphis have a new record coming out February 11 via Atomic Fire Records titled Halo. Their first single was “The Moon,” best described as heavy, crushing, and darkly atmospheric. Amorphis have announced their second single will be “On The Dark Waters,” to be released as seven-inch vinyl January 28. The A side will feature “On The Dark Waters,” while the B side rocks a live cut of “We Accursed.”
If that’s not enough, the band also launched the first episode of a documentary giving fans insights into the band’s studio work. Drummer Jan Rechberger discusses his part of Halo’s recording process.
Jan Rechberger states:
“Of course, the production process was a bit different this time because of the COVID situation; everything had to be done remotely, so [producer] Jens [Bogren] wasn’t there to kick our asses. But overall, the result will stand the test of time a bit better than our previous records in my opinion as it’s even more progressive and even more unpredictable: it’s a bit longer songs, and I think even heavier, rhythmically more interesting and a sort of rougher.”
