Problems keep mounting for co-frontman Justin Sane—legal name Justin Geever—of the now-disbanded punk band Anti-Flag. Rolling Stone report that Kristina Sarhadi, a holistic therapist and health coach out of New York, is suing Greever for sexual assault in the wake of a number of women coming forward with accusations of predatory behavior, sexual assault, and statutory rape against the former punk singer. She’s also suing the band’s distribution company, which includes all the other members of Anti-Flag, saying that Geever’s bandmates “had a duty of reasonable care to enact policies and procedures to protect fans.”
“Justin Geever used his platform as a celebrated, self-proclaimed ‘punk rock star’ to groom and lure vulnerable girls into feeling safe in his presence,” reads a statement from Sarhadi. “While he sang about protecting women and standing up to abusers, it appears he was hiding an addiction to power and control, harming countless women who have been unable to speak up before now. Today I hope to encourage his survivors, and survivors of other predators in the music industry, to feel hope again.”
As always, New Noise stands with and believes the victims.
