Arcane Ghosts release their third EP titled Distant Youth. The five-track project is an excellent, breakneck, pop-punk accomplishment with elements of dance and driving rock.
“The EP takes the listener on a rollercoaster of emotions while listening,” the band say. “There are tracks on this EP that will get you vibing and dancing. There are tracks that will get you sad gloomy.”
“Rollercoaster” is definitely the former category, a bouncy track with a catchy hook that forces listeners to jump into the album. “In The Blue” continues the momentum with excellent vocals and pace changes throughout.
“We wanted to try and push the bracket that is the sound we are creating for ourselves to stick out from all the other amazing music in the world,” the band continue.
“Paralyzed” is one of the better tracks on the album, dripping with emotion and a stop-and-go vibe. “Butterfly” is electric and is an excellent single. “Fever Dreams” soars, providing an emotional punch to punctuate the album.
“The new EP was mainly written during the pandemic which allowed us to deep dive into changing the patterns we have had in the last related to writing and composing.”
“Distant Youth” is an excellent, chance-taking album highlighted by excellent musicianship and the stellar mastering of Kris Crummett. Pop punk fans who find themselves in the Taking Back Sunday or Brand New corner will feel right at home.
