West Coast, feminist pop punkers Bad Cop/Bad Cop are finally back with their latest single, “Shattered,” via Fat Wreck Chords. This marks the band’s first new music since their 2020 LP The Ride and also marks the first new music the band has put out since original member Jennie Cotterill left the band and was replaced by Alex Windsor.
Where the band’s strength has always been in its three-part vocal harmonies, the replacement of one band member doesn’t seem to take away from that element of the band. They still sound like they’re in perfect sync, as always, and the harmonies sound beautiful, perfectly complimenting the classic pop-punk style of the song.
Speaking about the song, co-frontwoman Stacey Dee says:
“‘Shattered’ is a song I wrote after seeing a good friend post on the internet about how he was really struggling in life. It compelled me to grab my guitar in an attempt to reach out to those I see hurting every day. I know that life gets hard and can be brutal, but it is also wonderful and beautiful when we are able to open our eyes and see it. I empathize with those having a hard time. I’ve been there, but I also now have a perspective that allows me to live my life no matter what. I want that for everyone! ‘Shattered’ is a love letter to the folks in the world that are suffering to let them know they are loved and not alone!”
With the new single comes the accompanying video directed by Josh Roush. Check it out below:
