Political punk Godfathers Bad Religion have dropped a previously unreleased track from 2019’s Age of Unreason, “Emancipation Of The Mind.”

The track, referred to as an outtake from the band’s 17th studio album, shares an upbeat message, calling for reason and open-mindedness as the Biden-Harris administration is sworn into the White House today.

Vocalist and co-songwriter Greg Graffin says:

“I think the song really is a celebration of enlightenment values that can be cultivated through enthusiastic learning and open-mindedness. So often we’re told what to think. But learning how to think (as opposed to learning what to think) is a true feeling of emancipation from the constraints of indoctrination that are so commonplace in our society.”

Age of Unreason’s disdain for and challenging of the conspiracy theories, racist rallies, alternative facts, and more brought on by the Trump administration still remain relevant today. And, while the future looks brighter with the new president and vice-president taking office, let’s face it, Bad Religion are never going to run out of lyrical inspiration.
