The online, direct digital music marketplace, and recently, somewhat of a cultural phenomenon, Bandcamp have made an announcement concerning their Bandcamp Fridays.

Bandcamp Fridays occur the first Friday of each month when the company waives its fees for purchases made through its platform. The practice began back in March of this year during the onset of the pandemic and has continued through the end of 2020.

This week, Bandcamp announced that they will be continuing the program for the first six months of 2021 as well. You can read the entire announcement on Bandcamp’s website here.

Bandcamp Fridays have reportedly resulted in over $40 million of direct payments to artists in 2020, so it’s cool to see the program continue until live performances can resume.
