News: Black Heart Saints Drop Video for Billy Squier Classic ‘Lonely Is The Night’

Texas rockers Black Heart Saints have dropped a rousing cover of Billy Squier’s ’80’s classic “Lonely is The Night.”

The Austin rock ‘n’ roll/blues rock tribe pay homage to the rock icon responsible for such as ‘Rock Me Tonite’, ‘The Stroke’ and ‘My Kind of Lover’ in the early-mid 1980’s, on Capitol Records.

Because Squier never shot a video for the original track, Black Heart Saints decided to re-cut the song, and did so to the backdrop of a retro horror movie.

Speaking to Punknews, guitarist Mark Sean explains the choice: “This song has been a favorite of mine that occasionally pops up on classic rock radio. I heard the potential for a remake, and since the original song never received a music video, it became a blank slate for us to make it our own.”

Squier release his most recent album, Happy Blue, in 1998 and toured with the likes of Alice Cooper and Ringo Starr during a storied career.
