News: Black Metal Band Scarcity Announce New Album

Scarcity

Avant-garde, experimental black metal band Scarcity are set to release their new album, The Promise Of Rain, July 12 via The Flenser. In the meantime, they’ve released a video for the track “In The Basin Of Alkaline Grief” which you can view below. The song is a noisy, corrosive monument to all that is black metal.

The Promise Of Rain is the sophomore album from Scarcity. It can be viewed as the musical embodiment of how burdens are easier to bear when distributed, a realization Brendon Randall-Myers (conductor of the Glenn Branca Ensemble) grappled with extensively while writing this record. The album is an exposition about the collective relieving of burdens through shared experience proudly declaring that in the end, you don’t have to go through everything alone.

The lyrics for The Promise of Rain were inspired by a trip Moore took to the high deserts of southern Utah in 2023.

Moore states:

“To thrive in the desert is an act of abnegation … You do right by the land and receive its gifts, or it does away with you.”

Scarcity is Brendon Randall-Myers: guitar, synths, Doug Moore: vocals, Tristan Kasten-Krause: bass, Dylan DiLella: guitar, and Lev Weinstein: drums.
