Today, Sydney-based melodic hardcore group Bloom have dropped their latest single, “The Works of You,” via Greyscale Records and Pure Noise Records. This is the band’s first release since their debut album Maybe In Another Life, released earlier this year also via Greyscale Records and Pure Noise Records. Bringing together hard-hitting riffs with heartfelt lyrics, Bloom’s newest release successfully showcases everything that makes the band one of the most standout groups within the melodic hardcore scene.
This year has been an exciting one for the Australian outfit, which consist of vocalist Jono Hawkey, guitarists Jarod McLaren and Oliver Butler, bassist Andrew Martin, and drummer Jack Van Vilet. Bloom are currently on the road for their inaugural North American tour, touring throughout October and the beginning of November alongside Miss May I and In Hearts Wake. They will tour again in March of next year as they support Silverstein on their 25 Years of Noise tour alongside Thursday and The Callous Daoboys.
The band began 2024 with a Japanese tour alongside Erra and Knosis before releasing their debut full-length studio album Maybe In Another Life. The album earned the group massive praise, and they soon toured with some of today’s most iconic names in rock—such as Bad Omens, Polaris, and While She Sleeps—and took the stages of numerous music festivals.
Produced by longtime collaborator Christopher Vernon, “The Works of You” portrays the bittersweet sonic contrast that Bloom has become known for. A deeply poetic track, Bloom’s latest single is inspired by the love for those we care about that never goes away. The lyrics compare feelings for a loved one to a piece of art which hangs on a museum’s walls indefinitely. Bringing forward intricate melodies with calculated screams and heartfelt lyricality, “The Works of You” is without a doubt a definitive track from Bloom.
