Bruise Control, the noise-punk band from Manchester, return to the scene with their latest single titled “Left Behind.”
The song, accompanied by a video parodying ’80s television and entertainment, brings a mix of nostalgia and social critique. While the video takes a humorous approach, the message behind the song is much deeper.
“Left Behind” was inspired by the closure of Brunswick Mill, a creative space in Manchester that used to provide rehearsal rooms for many independent bands. According to Bruise Control’s frontman Jim Taylor, the song rejects how modern glass-and-metal structures are gradually erasing the essence and character of cities like Manchester. The track, therefore, is not just a protest anthem but also a reflection on the loss of these community spaces.
