Calgary-based hardcore band Trench have released a video for their newest single, “Imminent Power Looming.” The band are also thrilled to announce that they’ve signed to New Damage Records and will release more new material via the label in 2022.
Vocalist Jay Breen states: “‘Imminent Power Looming’ aims to re-create the feeling of internal helplessness. We want to make changes in our world but struggle to find a way to gain control over oneself, and over the future of this planet. It seems at this point in modern human existence we are finally starting to realize we don’t have as much control over our lives as we once thought …”
He continues, “Musically, this track gives you all levels of Trench’s arsenal. Intense electronics coincide with blast beats and lead into an emotional build, all while being punished by unrelenting unique heaviness and intricate musicianship. Writing ‘Imminent Power Looming’ allowed us to meticulously experiment sonically and creatively, further pushing the boundaries of our previous offerings.”

Setting the bar high with their 2017, debut record Condition, Trench paved themselves a notably unique lane in both hardcore and nu-metal genres. Not stopping there and taking their sound to even further extremes, 2019’s The Gift of Guilt was a testament to Trench’s ability to reinvent themselves with each release.
The three-song behemoth experimented with synthesis, ambient post-metal soundscapes, and captured the pain of loss while embracing the hardest truths in life. Now, Trench are ready to take things to the next level with their latest single, “Imminent Power Looming.”
Trench’s unrelenting aggression and extensive touring brought them international recognition and has allowed them to share the stage with bands such as Misery Signals, Integrity, Harm’s Way, and Comeback Kid. Follow Trench for future tour announcements.
