Vancouver, BC deathcore band Carcosa recently released their first new song in nearly nine months called “Nothing,” their heaviest track yet. The video features the band doing what they do best—rocking out and destroying audiences in a live setting.

Carcosa feature Andrew Baena (prominent YouTuber and Tik Toker), plus social media deathcore stars Johnny Ciardullo (also of Angelmaker) and Travis Regnier (also live drums for Spite).

Vocalist Johnny Ciardullo states:

“‘Nothing’ is quite literally about nothing … more or less. This song is about embracing the nothingness that awaits after death, the release of the responsibilities life throws your way, and the true peace it will bring. Often, nihilism is associated with a very negative outlook on life, but I wanted this song to be more of a positive nihilistic anthem, it’s the ever rewarding light at the end of your human trials: the bliss in nothingness.”

Carcosa formed from the ashes of djenty, metalcore band Galactic Pegasus. The band took their name as well as their black, yellow, and spiral-laden imagery inspired by the first season of True Detective. Writing began back in June 2019, eight months before Galactic Pegasus played its final show, Carcosa would go on to release their EP, Absent, in June of 2020.

In 2021, the band released Anthology which contained the revamped version of the track “Scars” featuring Brand of Sacrifice vocalist Kyle Anderson joined by Jake Wolf (Reflections), Taylor Barber (Left to Suffer), Ricky Hoover (Ov Sulfur, ex-Suffokate), Chad Kapper (Frontierer) and Charlie Pears-Smith.
