News: Carnation Release Single For Track “Metropolis”

Carnation

Death metal tyrants Carnation have released a single for the track, “Metropolis,” from their album Cursed Mortality, out November 3. Filled with blast beats and crushing riffs, Carnation are hellbent on snapping your spine with every song on this album. Inspired by the 1927 Fritz Lang sci-fi classic, “Metropolis” is a dire statement on the relentless pace of modern life.

Carnation states:

“‘Metropolis’ reveals the corruption and filth concealed beneath the glitter and glamour of our world, echoing the dark undertones of our civilization’s relentless advancement. This song is a haunting reminder that often, what lies beneath the surface is far more enigmatic than meets the eye.”

Cursed Mortality is more than a record though, it’s a declaration of intent through rebirth.

Frontman Simon Duson adds:

“We still play death metal, and we still identify as such. But we know that this is also our second decade performing it. And while it is very important for us to stay true to the old-school style, we know we had to open things up a bit and reach out to those who might be interested in extreme metal, but aren’t that much into the old aspect of it. It also feels fresher to us because we’ve decided to change our visual approach, with a new logo, a new look on stage and so on. In a way, it really feels like the beginning of a new chapter for Carnation.”

On producing the same product with each new album, Guitarist Jonathan Verstrepen comments:

“As artists, it’s something natural. Doing the same thing over and over again doesn’t inspire us. We love to create, and we love to explore new paths. We knew some people wouldn’t like clean vocals in death metal, but we don’t want to think of that too much. We stand 100% behind our music, and we really like what we did here. Some people will drop out, but there will definitely be others joining! As Lemmy would say, ‘You win some, you lose some.’”
