News: Colorado’s Necropanther Release New EP

Necropanther

Prolific Colorado metal band Necropanther has released a new four song EP entitled, Oblivion Jones: A Tale Of False Consciousness. Expect a healthy dose of death, doom, and full-on thrash, the perfect mix of metal for any occasion. The record was written and produced by Necropanther guitarist Joe Johnson, which completes a cycle of “solo” EPs, written and produced by each band member that are released between full-length albums. Check out the jazzy riffs saxophonist Rico Jones lays down on the track “The Denver School,” below.

The story behind Oblivion Jones: A Tale Of False Consciousness is a dark fantasy/sci-fi themed epic about the story of the titular character Oblivion Jones, an artist from Baltimore working in Denver. After his death at the end of the second movement, he’s since been “resurrected” as a cybernetic replicant attending a retrospective exhibition of his work in a near-future dystopia.

Oblivion Jones: A Tale Of False Consciousness was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Felipe Patino of Denver’s Green Door Recordings. The stunning cover art was done by Max Sherman. Necropanther are Paul Anop (guitar, vocals), Marcus Corich (bass, vocals), Joe Johnson (guitar), and Haakon Sjogren (drums).
