News: Common Sage Announce New Album, Closer To

Common Sage have announced a brand-new full-length album, Closer To, set to release November 22 via Equal Vision Records. In addition to this, they’ve also released a new music video for their single “Vehicles.” Closer To was recorded and produced by Brett Romnes at The Barber Shop Studios in Lake Hopatcong, New Jersey.

Frontman, Julian Rosen on “Vehicle”:

“The Heaven’s Gate cult would call their body’s a vehicle or container. They believed that their current life was only temporary, and that they were ultimately meant to ascend to something greater. These were normal, educated people with families and jobs and lives. ‘Vehicles’ is about not being satisfied with your reality, that there may be no meaning to life, and that one day you will die.”

Whether or nots it’s acknowledged, starting a “post-hardcore” band in this era is not a decision to be taken lightly. As the post hard-core genre comes with the territory of naysayers and gatekeepers, keeping an open mind is a need. The sound Common Sage produces feels like a modern version of melodic-post-hardcore. As these two styles combine with a dissonant clash, it sounds like a Quicksand and Title Fight dancing with delicate ballets.
