The Godfather of punk, Iggy Pop, has released Rare Trax, a collection of rarities that span his extensive career. From his early days as the front person of well-known rock band The Stooges, to his inventive days as a solo artist, Iggy Pop has provided innovative music for decades.
Rare Trax begins with featured outtakes from two of Iggy Pop’s most notable records, 1977’s The Idiot, and 1981’s Party. Pop then travels forward into brilliant demos that he and Steve Jones (Sex Pistols) collaborated on, landing on surprising territory with a cover of Jimi Hendrix’s “Purple Haze.” Ric Ocasek’s imprint can be heard on this record, in the form of production, as well as brand new mixes of “Lust For Life,” “The Passenger,” and “I Wanna Be Your Dog.”
