San Francisco blackgaze band Deafheaven have released a new EP with no announcement or promotion, titled At Work in the Fields of the Bomb. Additionally, band vocalist George Clarke, director Nico Poalillo, Pulse Films, and Academy Award-winning cinematographer Janusz Kaminsk released a short film to accompany the EP’s opening track “Hunter.” Watch the film here.

At Work in the Fields of the Bomb is based on a photo book of the same name documenting the people and places associated with the creation of nuclear bombs. The EP’s oppressive soundscape evokes imagery of desolation, extinction, and the unimaginable consequences of this sort of technology. Stream the EP across all platforms today, and purchase vinyl variants through Deafheaven’s store here.
