Avant-punk and lo-fi indie trailblazers Deerhoof are throwing a special party for you and your pals to tune into on September 28, 2020 at 3pm EST via Youtube. You can tune in here.
The band isn’t letting on as to what will all be included in the listening party, but they have been dropping a lot of hints on social media, including one post on Twitter where they imply that the event will be dedicated to the late anthropologist and activist, David Graeber.
Graeber was a respected writer, who advocated, amongst other things, for total debt abolition and was responsible for coining much of the 99% v 1% language of the Occupy Movement. Graeber passed away earlier this month while visiting friends in Italy.
Deerhoof has been busy this year despite being in quarantine releasing April’s rarities and B-sides album ‘Surprise Symphonies,’ May’s critically acclaimed studio album ‘Future Teenage Cave Artists;’ and July’s Bandcamp exclusive live album ‘To Be Surrounded By Beautiful, Curious, Breathing, Laughing Flesh Is Enough,’ featuring legendary avant-garde trumpeter/composer Wadada Leo Smith with all proceeds being donated to Black Lives Matter.
