Providence, Rhode Island’s indie-rock/alt-country darlings, Deer Tick, released their new album Emotional Contracts today on ATO Records.
Additionally, they recently released the final single off the album called “If I Try to Leave,” following previous singles “Forgiving Ties,” Once in a Lifetime,” and “The Real Thing.” “The overall theme of this song is family and how I’ve come to rely on it,” explains frontman John McCauley regarding the new single. “I need my family as a grounding force in my life. My survival depends on it, and I like it that way.”
The video for “If I Try To Leave” is directed by Ian Stroud and parodies internet-based how to videos.
To promote the new album, the band set up a hotline where fans could dial in to hear previews of the new album at 1-833-DEER-TICK. The phone number was promoted with a playful commercial in which the band advertise their new album in the style of commercials for compilation albums from the 1990s.
There’s a number of places where you can order the new album, with each site offering different variants of the vinyl, including the band’s website, ATO Records’ website, Newbury Comics, and Levitation.fm. Make sure to follow the band on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter for future updates.
