News: Deerhoof Announces 19th Album, First Entirely In Studio

It’s a unique debut, of sorts, for veteran band Deerhoof as they will drop their first album made entirely in a proper recording studio on March, 31. Titled Miracle-Level, the album comes out through Joyful Noise Recordings. It’s the band’s 19th album.

Deerhoof says they moved past the do-it-yourself method only when the opportunity presented itself.

“Seemingly out of nowhere, I was presented with a miracle-level opportunity to produce Deerhoof for two consectutive weeks at No Fun Club in Winnipeg, Manitoba,” producer Mike Bridavsky says. Bridavsky was a total stranger to the band until Joyful Noise founder Karl Hofstetter suggested him. “I bean listening through their albums and I had no fucking idea how to make a Deerhoof record. Did anyone? They;d assembled a catalog of thoughtful, wild, and unique records, each different from the one before. I was about to be inserted into a thriving creative organism that’s worked almost exclusively with each other, with unlimited control of every blip and bleep. This was the session I’d been dreaming of for my whole professional life—and I was terrified.”

The band is also releasing the album’s new single “Sit Down, Let Me Tell You A Story.” It’s an example of the album’s avant-garde style with anti-fascist lyricism.

The music video for the single is directed by Noriko Oishi, following the first single from the album “My Lovely Cat.”
