The American rock band, FOR3ST HILLS, are releasing a new single, “Deserving,” on July 13. This is track number six off of their upcoming album, Lost. “Deserving” began as an open-ended song that anyone who has been through abuse or addiction could apply to their life. If you’re struggling with addiction or you’re in an abusive relationship, please never hesitate to reach out for help.

The track is about abuse and addiction, despite it being passable as a love song. The chorus begins with the line, “Love is a drug I use and abuse.” The word “love” is a placeholder for anything else you could put in its place.
Frontman, Zero Surico on “Deserving”:
“I wrote ‘Deserving’ as an open-ended song that anyone who has been through abuse or addiction could apply to their life. For my personal life, I wrote this song about a previous relationship while I was still with the person, feeling like I deserved the treatment I was receiving, and it its own messed up way, taking some form of enjoyment in it because I’d been conditioned to do so.”
FOR3ST HILLS are an independent band based in the United States in 2018. They were originally known as Forest Hills after the New York town their frontman, Zero Surico grew up in, but they changed their name to FOR3ST HILLS in 2021 due to wanting to separate themselves from the area that shared their name. FOR3ST HILLS have traveled country-wide, and recently welcomed a new member to their band, Draven Surico. They’re currently working on producing their third studio album, titled Lost, which is anticipated to release in 2024.
They’re also more than just a band; they aim to create awareness for diversity beyond just the music, but within the fanbase as well. Community means everything to them, and they support various different charitable organizations. Eventually, they plan on creating the FOR3ST HILLS Foundation as a nonprofit to provide resources such as cheaper therapy and assistance for those who are at-risk.
