Fuckin Whatever is the not-so-new but very unique project from Circa Survive’s Anthony Green, Taking Back Sunday’s Adam Lazzara and John Nolan, with additional percussion from Grouplove’s Benjamin Homola. They’ve dropped their first single “I’m Waiting On You”, ahead of releasing their self-titled debut EP June 4.

Featuring members of some iconic bands, it’s easy to pass Fuckin Whatever off as just another supergroup, but there’s one thing that makes this project stand out: there are ZERO instruments on Fuckin Whatever’s self-titled debut.

Adam Lazzara explains:

“It’s pretty much 80% mouth noises and 20% Ben slapping things around the house.

Anthony Green’s restless energy started the project way back in 2016 on the Taste Of Chaos tour, itching to play more music after his opening sets with Saosin, he started setting up impromptu acoustic gigs in the parking lots after his set. Instead of an acoustic set, one night Green set up a backstage jam session, with Lazzara, Nolan, Homola, and others, and no instruments. Instead, they used just their voices, and stomping feet for percussion. Fuckin Whatever was born.

Fast forward to 2020, and Green approached the group with the idea of releasing some of the many recordings they accumulated over the tour (some as long as 17-minutes, and one recorded in the legendary tunnel between the stage and sound booth at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado). Nolan responded with a similar hunger for creativity and suggested they make and record something new, but in the same vein. They created “I’m Waiting On You”, and then, the rest of the Fuckin Whatever EP.
