Swiss progressive sludge act Herod are sharing their new single “The Becoming,” off of their upcoming album The Iconoclast, which will be out on May 5 via Pelagic Records.
The new album delivers a magnificent sound that blends the artistic mindset of the band as well as modern metal influences. “The Becoming” shows true talent of singer Mike Pilat (ex-The Ocean) with his monstrous screams and deadly low chanting.

“‘The Iconoclast’ sees the Swiss quintet paint with a consistent palette of groovy syncopated riff- ing, heavy breakdowns, and a diversity of vocal techniques and deliveries. Using similar colors and textures to create many different pictures, it’s an approach that feels almost experi- mental. Like great abstract painters like Kazimir Malevich or Jackson Pollock, Herod continue to develop their technique and method throughout their oeuvre.”
