News: Hiding Places Release Compilation to Support Palestine

Hiding Places

The Brooklyn label HATETOQUIT have teamed up with the band Hiding Places to release a compilation by the title of Merciless Accelerating Rhythms: Artists United for a Free Palestine.

The record features over 50 different artists including Phil Elverum, Magnolia Electric Company, and The Districts. The origin of this compilation drew from a poem by June Jordan, “I Must Become a Menace to My Enemies.” The poem was dedicated to the former President of The People’s Republic of Angola, Agostinho Neto.

This compilation will be made up of 50 songs from artists all over the United States and the United Kingdom, with genres that rang from ambient electronic to jazz. The artists that are featured will include The Microphones’ Phil Elverum, Little Wings, John Andrews & The Yawns, Magnolia Electric Company’s Jason Evans Groth, Nara’s Room, Villagerrr, Super Infinity, Self-Help, Fust, TVOD, Chatterton, Nora Stanley, and more.

The record is available to purchase; however, the original release was exclusive solely to Bandcamp. It will be available on streaming services. All of the proceeds that were made from both Bandcamp and streaming services will be going to Palestine Children’s Relief Fund (PCRF) and Palestine Legal.

“I Must Become a Menace to My Enemies”

I plan to blossom bloody on an afternoon
Surrounded by my comrades singing
Terrible revenge in merciless
Accelerating
Rhythms

HATETOQUIT and Hiding Places on Merciless Accelerating Rhythms: Artists United for a Free Palestine:

“These are the words of anti-apartheid artist, leader, and poet, June Jordan; We as Artists United for a Free Palestine see retaliation as a diversity of tactics, as mutual aid, as solidarity with the people of Palestine, as direct action, if necessary, as an immediate end to the Israeli Occupation Force and a Free Palestine, forever, as a liberated world. Our duty as artists has, and always will be, radical acts of care; the least we can do is send any aid possible to those facing genocide in Palestine and money to folks on the frontlines of organizing action to get access to lawyers and legal support.”
