Welsh alt-rock band Holding Absence have shared a major announcement with their fans: drummer Ashley Green will be stepping away from the band after eight years of intense collaboration and creativity. The band posted the news on their social media accompanied by a heartfelt message expressing the vital role Green has played in their musical journey.
“Ashley has been the heart of our band for eight years and will always carry a part of what Holding Absence means,” they share, showing the deep respect and appreciation they feel for him.
From the start, the band clarified that this decision isn’t due to any conflict or bad terms, but rather stems from the need to take a pause after years of nonstop touring and relentless work in the music industry.
“After some extreme years of touring and personal growth, we believe it’s healthier for both sides to take some time apart,” they add, suggesting that the personal and professional well-being of each member has been central to this decision.
Green, for his part, shared his own message of gratitude directed toward those who have supported both him and the band along the way.
“Thank you. Really, all I can say is thank you,” he writes, with special mention to the fans who attended shows, bought records, and showed them unwavering support at every turn.
“Being an inspiration to other musicians is one of the greatest privileges of my life,” he adds, making clear how much he values having been a positive influence on others.
The band have not yet announced who will be taking Green’s place on drums, but fans can still look forward to upcoming shows, as Holding Absence have a series of concerts scheduled in Japan and Australia in January 2025. Additionally, they’ll be performing alongside You Me At Six at London’s OVO Arena Wembley on April 3. Tickets are now available for those who want to join them in this new chapter.
