Howard Kaye, hip-hop/electronic artist turned rocker, has released new single, “Devil’s Playground.”
The track finds the former Croox lead singer pursuing a Kanye West inspiration to much different results. “Devil’s Playground” builds from a drum beat by Royal Blood’s Ben Thatcher into a sonic world more akin to 2000s hard rock.
“I was inspired by the track “Black Skinhead” by Kanye West and wanted to write a song based around a drum loop,” Kaye says. “”Devil’s Playground” is a letter to myself, it’s a song about my experience with sobriety and staying clear of the bad influences. It’s a reminder to myself to keep strong, keep focused and not to be steered in the wrong direction.”
