Hot off the heels of releasing the debut single “Planet Destructor,” prog sludgers Hyborian have just dropped the second single off their upcoming sophomore album, Volume II. The group partnered up with Invisible Oranges to drop this second track, “Expanse,” alongside an official music video. Check it out below!
“Expanse” is a far sludgier affair than its predecessor and is an exciting look into what Hyborian have prepared on this release.
“The original idea when we started planning out what Hyborian was going to be was to have three records; the first one was going to be stories from the beginning of time and early humanity before the advent of the written word, and that’s where the name comes from—author Robert E. Howard’s Hyborian Age,” the band says.
“The second album, which is what ended up happening on Volume II, takes place during the very last days of the existence of the universe, and the third record will be about the modern, industrial age.”
Volume II is due for release March 20 via Season of Mist and can be pre-ordered here.
