Britain’s rock band IDLES have unleashed this slammin’ video “Pop Pop Pop” taken from their new album TANGK (out now via Partisan). The record was IDLES’s second #1 on the U.K. chart and follows IDLES’ 2021 album CRAWLER which led to their first two Grammy Award nominations. With their tour heading to North America, this is just the topping to an amazing run. The video director Steward Baxter took direction for this as well from the lead vocals of Joe Talbot, with the video shot by Ed Norton.
About “POP POP POP” Talbot says, “It’s a song about the beauty of having a kid and understanding how lucky you are to have a kid. And there’s a sense of a cycle when you have a child, when you’ve lost a parent and a child. I have a very huge sense of gratitude and weight behind being a parent because of what I’ve lost. I’m not saying I’m a better parent, or more connected because of that. But for me, I’m more connected than I would have been, I think, because of what I’ve lost. I’ve learned a sense of just joy from seeing her joy. And I think that’s amazing. And powerful. And I’m very grateful.”
The video has this cold, scenic ambiance in the outdoors, as natural and unique as IDLES are, and do it their way, offering up storytelling rock and gritty hip -hop at its finest. This song is addictive and different for sure. The IDLES tour kicks off in May and hitting the United States with their electrifying presence.
