News: Ipecac Recordings Celebrate 25 Years

Ipecac Recordings

The San Francisco-born label Ipecac Recordings are celebrating their 25th anniversary of uncompromising music and innovation. They are an iconic and independent record label that was founded by Greg Werckman and Mike Patton.

For the past quarter of a century, Ipecac Recordings have been at the forefront of innovative music, earning themselves a reputation for reputable artists who defy conventions and push boundaries through their music. They range from rock to hip-hop to classical and all genres in between, and as such, they have become synonymous with words such as creativity, authenticity, and freedom.

During the last 25 years, Ipecac Recordings have released diverse collections of critically-acclaimed albums, including works from The Melvins, Mr. Bungle, ISIS, Faith No More, and so much more. With the size of their ever-evolving and expanding roster, they remain committed to nurturing talent and providing a home for musicians to pursue their dreams.

Greg Werckman on 25 years of Ipecac Recordings:

“A label does not last 25 years without consumer support. We are not the biggest or hippest record label, that was never our goal, but we are so lucky to have such a loyal, adventurous fanbase. We appreciate you and thank you.”

Mike Patton adds on:

“Ipecac was us realizing we needed to start creating our own universe, where albums that didn’t necessarily fit other, more traditional labels, could have a home. ”

For the commemoration of this milestone, they have planned a series of special vinyl re-issues. They’ve already announced three re-issues for the band that started it all, Fantômas. The three are the band’s self-titled debut, which was Ipecac’s first release, as well as The Director’s Cut and Suspended Animation. It’ll be featuring Patton, Buzz Osborne, Dave Lombardo, and Trevor Dunn. They are also going to do the same with Dälek’s 1998 debut album, Negro Necro Nekros, May 10 digitally and June 28 physically. For the physical copy, it’ll be available on both black vinyl as well as the Ipecac 25 anniversary silver vinyl.

Ipecac General manager Marc Schapiro comments:

“As we look ahead to the next chapter, one thing remains certain: The spirit of creativity that has defined the label from the beginning will continue.”
