Julia Kugel, founding member of punk group The Coathangers, announced her first solo album under the name Julia Julia and dropped the album’s first single.
The album, entitled Derealization, comes out September 30 on Suicide Squeeze Records. She released the first single, “Fever in My Heart” along with the accompanying music video. According to Kugel, the album was inspired by the headspace she got in from constant touring with The Coathangers. “You know how touring musicians often speak of whether home is real or tour is real?” Kugel explains. “Well, it can lead you to lose grasp on ‘reality,’ especially when touring is taken away and you are left to wonder if anything was ever real, including yourself. Like you were just playing a character,”
The new album is available for preorder on Kugel’s Bandcamp site.
