News: Korine Share New Single “Anhedonia” Ahead of LP

Korine

East Coast based Korine, out of Philly, released their lead single “Anhedonia” this week off their upcoming album A Flame In the Dark. This synthpop/darkwave duo are made up of Morgy Ramone and Trey Frye. Together the two revitalize the pulsating energy of the ’80s, but with their own flair of generational angst.

A Flame In the Dark is set to be released on March 28 via Born Loser Records, their fourth full-length studio album. “Anhedonia” is a preview into their upcoming LP, one that reflects their discontent with the world but simultaneously projects a fantastical illusion as a means to escape that world even temporarily. It’s this beautiful balance between expressionism and escapism. It’s in that sweet spot that you can let the catchy riff sequence carry you away.

In fact, Anhedonia means an inability to experience pleasure or enjoyment in something that used to bring joy. If you listen to the opening lyrics of the song, “There’s nothing more I can take, This world’s pathetic a waste,” there is a strong air of malcontent but as it goes on, there is a rejuvenated sense of determination to fight for love even in dark places: “You’ll see I’ll be the one that you love, Softly holding saying ‘you are enough.'”
