Death metal trio Left To Rot are to mark their return with their new EP Breath of the Tomb, which will be out on October 6. Previously, they released a demo EP in 2021. The band have also premiered a single off of the album, titled “Come To Me.”
Vocalist Jason Dahlke shares his thoughts:
“There’s nothing better than when a mosh pit goes off, and I really wanted to write something mid-tempo that people could go hard to. I decided to depart a bit from the riffs I was writing on the rest of the album and take a straightforward approach. When we got together to jam on it, we tried to just let the groove guide us with no real desire to make it something it wasn’t.
“Whenever Aryan tells me, ‘That riff jams, dude!’ I know I’m on the right track. Justin came up with the idea of a malevolent deity purposely dragging people into its realm to inflict pain on them, so I took that and morphed it into the lyrics. We took out all the frills and just wanted this one to pile drive people into the ground—hope ya dig it.”
According to the press release:
“Left To Rot are an Austin, Texas-based death metal band founded in 2021. Started by vocalist Jason Dahlke and drummer Justin Olejnik, the project was begun as a means to push musical boundaries. Inspired by the likes of Grave, Entombed, Bloodbath, and Death, the founding members sought a way to bring more groove and structural sensibility to modern death metal. However, in order to do any of that, Dahlke and Olejnik first needed a bassist. Soon after, they found their perfect match in bassist Aryan Nawim.”
