Brooklyn-based disco metal act Makes My Blood Dance have released a single and video for the track “Knowin’ It Without Knowin’ Why.” Makes My Blood Dance features frontman EVO and guitarist/programmer Jon Kristian combining elements of musical theater, pop, and technical metal to create groove and dance-oriented rhythms.
Evo, the band’s founder, describes himself as “A shaman of music and love magic, a communicator who is also flawed but has been broken enough to be honest and share in the healing … and still learning.”
EVO comments:
“I’m always trying to patch my bleeding heart, dream big, and somehow level up in the process. MMBD’s mindset is to put out music that is fresh and invigorating, that gets your blood pumping (and dancing … grin).”
Canadian record producer Dave “Rave” Ogilvie states:
“When I first started working with MMBD, it had all the features of music I love to work on. Power drums, driving bass, edgy synths, massive guitars, catchy lyrics, and an awesome disco feel!”
Makes My Blood Dance are a band that defy musical genre. They incorporate elements of cyberpunk, synthwave, metal, and pop cranking out a sound best described as electronic-sleaze, disco-dance-metal. They’ve been described as a “ballsier Panic at the Disco, with Ghost, Mindless Self Indulgence, and NIN rolled into one.
