Nostalgic pop-punkers with a modern flair, Mighty Vices release their newest single “After All, Tomorrow Is Another Day.” It’s the latest in a line of original songs and covers released by the Fort Wayne-based band.
“This song was so fun to put together,” singer Bryan Bennett says. “I’m a huge fan of film, acting and cinematography, and have been since I was really young. When Codie (Priester) and Josh (Douglas) started to draft the song out, I would listen to the demo on repeat, and it told a story of a young couple in a toxic relationship, but neither of them could see the truth, and it was all painted in a black-and-white film.”
The anthemic track does just that with a atmospheric opening that blasts from zero to 100 in a snap. The breakneck pace, catalyzed by Bennett’s stellar vocals, never lets up, smartly shifting speeds and structure throughout.
Bennett says the lyrics are deeply personal.
“I had some personal experience on the matter, but the song kind of wrote itself. It’s almost a warning… If you don’t let go of the things that drag you down, it could suck you into a vortex you can’t get out of.
“After All, Tomorrow Is Another Day” is the latest in a string of original tracks and cover songs from Mighty Vices. The stretch includes their cover of Cohead & Cambria’s hit “A Favor House Atlantic,” Jimmy Eat World’s “Sweetness,” and their own bouncy track titled “Live It UP.”
