Analog Fluids of Sonic Black Holes is the new album by Philadelphia-based artist, poet, and musician Camae Ayewa, also known as Moor Mother. You can also watch a video clip for the track “LA92,” directed by Bob Sweeney.

Analog Fluids of Sonic Black Holes is the perfect synthesis of Moor Mother’s unique, artistic approach and the Black revolution at large. Myth, Black mothers, vodun, quantum futurism, and post-colonial street narratives all get their moments to shine. In 2019, only a conjurer like Moor Mother can bring all those pieces together as a cohesive, powerful whole.

“Whether we are at the intersection of Florence and Normandie throwing bricks in the 1992 Los Angeles riots or in the Red Summer of 1919, or West Philly’s MOVE bombing in 1985, being black in this world almost certainly accompanies an intimate relationship with pain. Moor Mother’s twisting, grating music is a medium by which we can dig deeply into the root(s) of that pain. This is not noise made to merely disturb aesthetic sensibilities; this is noise designed to exorcise generations of ancestral trauma.”-The Wire
