Mr. Bungle has announced that they will be releasing their recently rerecorded 1986 demo, The Raging Wrath Of The Easter Bunny. It will be out October 30, 2020 on Ipecac Recordings. The album will be their first release in twenty-one years.

For this release, the usual suspects and founding members of Mr. Bungle (Trevor Dunn, Mike Patton, and Trey Spruance) are joined by Scott Ian (Anthrax, S.O.D.) and Dave Lombardo (Dead Cross, Slayer, Suicidal Tendencies). These heavy-hitting axe and skin men aren’t just there for their good looks and The Raging Wrath Of The Easter Bunny will also include reimaginings of the S.O.D. classic “Hypocrites / Habla Español O Muere” (a.k.a. “Speak Spanish or Die”) and Corrosion of Conformity’s “Loss For Words.”

Mike Patton sounds pretty stoked about the collaborations with Ian and Lombardo saying, “Recording THIS music with THESE guys was an enormous head-rush of virtuosity and surprises every day in the studio. Trey’s video game-esque solos, Scott’s bionic right hand and cyborg-like precision, Dave’s caveman-meets-Bobby Brady-like drum fills, Trevor’s solid foundation and laser-focus to detail. There is nothing sweeter than getting your ass kicked by true comrades…where everyone has a singular drive and mission.”

Not being able to tour has left artists in the position where they have to get creative or die. A lot of them have been going back to the vault to find things to release to keep themselves on top of mind. Some bands have found more interesting ways of doing this than others. Mr. Bungle, as usual, is doing things there own way and leaning into the spirit of collaboration that has made them one of the more interesting and eccentric metal bands of the ’80s and ’90s. It would have been great to hear some original music from the band this year, but that just doesn’t seem to be in the cards. In the meantime, we’ll have The Raging Wrath Of The Easter Bunny to tide us over until this whole COVID thing gets sorted out.
