Danish composer and multi-instrumentalist Amalie Bruun (Myrkur) has released “Leaves of Yggdrasil,” the second single off of her upcoming album, Folkesange. The song was released alongside a stunning music video which saw Amalie rejoining with filmmaker Mats Ek to create something truly not of this world. Have a watch below.

On this new single, Amalie had this to say:

“I wrote ‘Leaves of Yggdrasil’ about being apart from the one you love because of circumstances that are completely out of your control. The Norns weave the fates of Gods and man, and sometimes ,that means very tough life situations. I wanted to create a song with the feeling of an old folk-tale, but with words that resonated with my own life today.”

Myrkur’s new album, Folkesange, is due for release March 20 via Relapse Records. Pre-order details can be found here.
