News: New King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard Record Out Now

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard have released a new album of electronic music entitled The Silver Chord via their record label, KGLW. The Silver Chord is the band’s 25th album in their career and is available in two different versions: the short “hooks-only” and an “extended mix.”

Check out the video for “Theia” /”The Silver Cord”/”Set” below. KGLW are masters at whatever style of music they decide to tackle. The Silver Chord doesn’t disappoint.

Bandleader Stu Mackenzie states:

“The first version’s really condensed, trimming all the fat. And on the second version, that first song, ‘Theia,’ is 20 minutes long. It’s the ‘everything’ version—those seven songs you’ve already heard on the first version, but with a whole lot of other shit we record while making it. It’s for the Gizz-heads. I love Donna Summer’s records with Giorgio Moroder, and I’d never listen to the short versions now—I’m one of those people who wants to hear the whole thing. We’re testing the boundaries of people’s attention spans when it comes to listening to music, perhaps—but I’m heavily interested in destroying such concepts.”

The “hooks only” version of The Silver Chord is seven tracks which takes King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard back to hooks, choruses, and their innate pop essence. The second version, the “extended mix” is just that, KGLW doing a quirky deep dive in full exploration mode. The Silver Chord is available now.
