News: Nights Like Thieves Release ‘Move On’

Nights Like Thieves

Pop punk and alternative band Nights Like Thieves release a mid-year contender for best scene track of 2023 in their new song “Move On.” The song is accompanied by a heartfelt music video.

“The video is home movie montage with a vintage VHS feel showcasing moments from our live show, tour, friend hangs, and our lives,” the band say.

The clips are expertly edited in a way that tells a story of bind grinding on the road while enjoying silly and cathartic moments away from the stage. Sonically, the song hits like top-tire 2010s pop-punk—think bands like Knucklepuck or Real Friends. But there is more edge, like a traditional punk song. “Move On” is perfectly written, an anthem for those marching through the melancholy of everyday life while longing for change.

But it juxtaposes with the cheerful nature of the band in the music video. “Move On” is a reminder that even in times of uncertainty, we can enjoy friendships and reliable camaraderie.

The song came together in a couple different places. The drums were tracked at Clarity Recordings in San Diego, while the guitars were recorded at guitarists Mario Rivera’s home studio in La Mesa, CA. Rivera also edited the music video. Engineer Joe Marsh mixed and mastered the smoothly crafted track.
