Pop-punkers Northvale return to the scene with a new, smashing track titled “Better When I Can.” The East Coast crew never fail to produce soaring, bouncy songs with edge. The new tune is no exception.
“On the surface, it hints at an alcohol addiction, but at its core, the song is about the broader addiction to self-destructive behaviors—acknowledging the need for change yet continually deferring it,” the band say.
The song emerged from a transformative period for Northvale. They faced challenges, both as a group and in their personal lives. The crew also experimented with producers. After a hiatus, Northvale ultimately connected with Brett Romnes and Gary Cioni to help put the new music together.
“This track, being the final piece before our new album’s conception, marks a pivotal transition from our previous sound to something fresh and new,” the band say about “Better When I Can.”
The tune gets a hand from Adam Blasi from palettes, with his touch added to the bridge. The track actually went through a few iterations, some before Blasi jumped onboard.
“Almost humorous when comparing its original draft to the final version,” Northvale continues describing the song. “We unanimously feel that the current version is the definitive one.”
Northvale will release three more songs leading up to an album. The next, titled “Already Dead,” will feature The Dangerous Summer and come out on October, 2. The album will include 10 songs.
“We are immensely grateful for our fans who’ve patiently awaited our return,” the band adds.
