After over two decades going their separate ways, Orchid have decided to rejoin ranks and are preparing for a short West Coast leg of their Doom Loop Tour next month. The band announced their reunion in 2024, and since then, made it down the East Coast with sold-out shows along the way. These next few shows are highly anticipated, each featuring a different lineup of bludgeoning bands in accompaniment.
Fans are eager to see Orchid live, especially a generation who never thought they would get the opportunity. However, not all break-ups have some drawn-out, tumultuous story. Sometimes life just gets in the way, and your priorities change, but other times, things fall back into place just when they need to. Now Orchid are back and rowdier than ever. Each of their upcoming shows in Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, and down to SoCal will have a select set list.
“We’ve been offered stuff forever. Everyone’s got their own stuff going on, and it never appealed,” says founding member Jaysonn Green. “Finally, I remember talking to Damien Abraham from F*cked Up, and he said, ‘You like the guys?’ And I was ‘Yeah.’ Then he’s like, ‘Do you like the songs?’ And I was like, ‘Yeah.’ And he goes. ‘So what’s the problem?; And I was like, ‘Huh. That’s a good point.’”
Fellow founder Brad Wallace adds, “You know, I’m kind of ambivalent about reuniting … but I think when we’re on our deathbeds, we’re not going to be like, I’m sure glad we didn’t reunite Orchid!’”
The tour will kickoff on February 10 in Seattle before ending in Pomona, CA. A few of the bands joining will be Iron Lung, Great Falls, Jerome’s Dream, Agriculture, and more. Find tickets and show updates, including added shows, here.
