Surprise, Peckheads! Canadian country singer and Lone Ranger cosplayer Orville Peck has announced a surprise cover of Bronski Beat’s “Smalltown Boy,” exclusively available via Spotify.

Released as part of the ongoing Spotify Singles series, Peck flexes his prowess for combining country music with other genres, as “Smalltown Boy” has all the country twang without negating any of the 80’s synthpop flare of the original.

Known for his anonymity as much as his fringed Lone Ranger mask, Peck is preparing to release his heavily-anticipated follow-up to Juno-nominated 2019 debut Pony.

Aptly titled Show Pony, the EP has been delayed until July in recognition of the Black Lives Matter movement and the ongoing police brutality protests  across the United States.
