News: Painted Light Release ‘Keeps You Up’

Painted Light

Scene fans craving a fresh sounding Midwest emo track will welcome Painted Light’s newest song “Keeps You Up.” The band say the tune is about a relationship gone sour.

“This one is a super fun collab that came out of Jeff Bettger and I digging each other’s band sets at Furnace Fest back in September,” vocalist and guitar player Jake Hedke says. “This song was almost done, but it needed more intensity. Jeff’s vocals are intensity personified. Plus he surprised us and added really cool cerebral low harmonies too.”’

The Texas natives were joined by Jeff Suffering of Ninety Pound Wuss, Drybnz, Suffering and the Hideous Thieves, and Raft of Dead Monkeys. The tune opens with a soft, crooning hook before smashing into an electric verse. Catchy guitar riffs and a driving drum beat pace aggressive vocals in an explosive emo anthem.

“The song is a loud (screaming) explosion of hope for those who’ve been mistreated,” Hedke continues. “Essentially, stand up for yourself against those who try to tear you down. For me personally, I used this song to get those intense feelings out of me, so I don’t have to carry them,” Hedke adds. “Hope this song let’s you yell out some feelings, so you can move forward too.”

Painted Light is supporting Mike Mains and The Branches on April, 5 with more shows expected. Keep an eye out for big announcements from the band here.
