News: Parts Per Million Takes a Stand with “Her Song” in Defense of Women’s Rights

Her Song

The Boston hard rock band Parts Per Million have delivered a powerful and clear message in their new music video, “Her Song.” This track directly addresses the controversy surrounding the overturning of Roe vs. Wade. Indeed, this issue remains a raw wound in the debate over reproductive rights in the United States.

The video was directed by Tyler Ayers of Revelry Studios alongside the band’s frontman, Paul McSweeney. It presents a raw and direct visual representation of the impact this decision has had on women across the country. In the narrative, judges drag a woman into a cage, symbolizing her loss of control over her own body. Subsequently, other women come together to free her. In a dramatic twist, they imprison those same judges, showcasing the power of collective resistance.

McSweeney, visibly moved by the subject, comments:

“These are our sisters, our daughters, our mothers, our friends. No one should have the power to decide over someone else’s body. This is an issue that affects us all.”

The band have chosen to use their platform not just to make noise but also to highlight a message they consider urgent. This is particularly important at a time when the country is facing crucial political decisions.

“Her Song” is not just another track in Parts Per Million’s repertoire. Rather, it’s a powerful statement that continues the band’s tradition of tackling social and political issues. For instance, in 2023, the band addressed the growing influence of artificial intelligence on human creativity with “CTRL ALT DEL.” Similarly, in previous years, songs like “Placebo” and “Find The Light” dealt with issues such as gun violence and the pain of unexpected loss. These tracks have always focused on how these problems affect both current and future generations.

For McSweeney, the band’s commitment is clear:

“We want to be a voice that helps create change. There are many things in the world that need to be questioned and confronted, and we have the platform to do it.”

With “Her Song,” Parts Per Million are not just making music. Instead, they are issuing a call to action, reminding everyone that the fight for women’s rights is a fight for all of us.
