News: Persei Releases New Song ‘Not Okay’

Persei

Alternative and pop-punk band Persei drops its newest song “Not Okay” leading up to its first full length album. What’s Left Inside comes out  this Spring, a record the band says took 18 months to craft.

“Our 20s are essentially over,” explains drummer and vocalist Sergio Gorno. “Whether it’s moving out, getting married or having children, the full pressure of adulthood is on.”

Stereotyped as an art form that draws on teenage angst, pop-punk has dwelled in challenges of post-collegiate adulthood for the better part of the past decade. Persei’s newest track thrives in that space. If it’s any indication of the full album, the New York natives have a special release on its hands.

“We’re still grappling with that reality,” Gorno continues about the album’s mature focus. “We’re not subscribed to the played-out sentiment that growing up just sucks. Rather, the song presents an exploration of mental health challenges in the context of life’s transitional stages.”
