Pirate Press Records are auctioning off test-presses, ultra-rare vinyl, and all kinds of incredible collectibles, in their third week of charity auctions for Black Lives Matter.
Home to the likes of Rancid, Cock Sparrer, Tim Timebomb, Street Dogs, Bar Stool Preachers, and many more, the label has already raised over $3500 for the Anti Police-Terror Project and ACLU’s Racial Justice Program in the first round of auctions, and more than $3300 for Equal Justice Society and Color Of Change in the second.
With items like Cock Sparrer/Rancid Split test presses and signed Tim Timebomb flyers, they’re sure to do the same this round, with the money made split equally between the four causes.
The label enforces the importance of raising awareness: “Racism has no place in our society, and it’s eye-opening and refreshing to see the unity in that message being projected so loudly and so widely. We aren’t going to pretend that various forms of racism haven’t existed in punk rock over the past 40+ years, and that some forms of it still do; but we must be the change we want to see in the world. At Pirates, and as punks and skins, hardcore kids and metal heads and everything in between, we MUST stand together and support human rights and everyone’s equal right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Especially black people, people of color and other traditionally oppressed communities. Until we are all safe, nobody is safe. Until we are all free, nobody is free.”
And if you don’t want to bid on anything, but still want to help, you can purchase a limited edition bowling bag HERE (only 50 made, with the intention of using them for something special at this year’s Punk Rock Bowling), with all of the proceeds go to the Equal Justice Society and the Color of Change.
The auction ends Sunday, July 12th at 3 PM PDT. You can view the items and place your bids HERE.
